There are so many styles to choose from, it feels impossible to choose just the right one. Don’t stress about it. Just decide what you don’t want and that will help you come to the right decision. Start looking for prom hairstyles whenever you want, but don’t make a final decision until you have chosen the perfect dress.

The look of the dress will help you determine what to do with your hair. If your dress is simple, you may want to have a more elaborate hairstyle. If your dress is the focal point, consider keeping your hair simple to balance out the look and keep it from being over the top. Also take into consideration the neckline of your dress. If your shoulders are a great feature, pile that hair on top of your head and work them! Open back dress? Keep your hair pulled back and twisted up to show it off. Don’t just think about your hair as hair, but as a part of your whole image. It needs to keep in line with the style of your dress. Make-up too! Check out the pics of these celebs and how their hair compliments the outfits they are wearing

Take a tip from the celebs when choosing what’s right for your hair for Prom 2009.  Consider your dress and your personal style, get opinions from a stylist or someone else who won’t just tell you what you want to hear, and don’t be afraid to try a few different styles out.  Try the dress on with each style, take pictures, then decide which one looks best on you.

Prom Updos & Outfit Styles

Heidi Montag has her hair sleek and sexy in this shot.  It’s classy and out of the way to show off her daring bare-back top.  Her outfit is more contemporary, so having her hair slicked back is the perfect way to stay with that theme.  The make-up on her eyes is darker with black liner and dark brown shades for the shadow, but the rest of her face is soft.  The hot pink accessories add fun and take away the severity of the whole look.

Shirly Brener has on a fierce blue dress with subtle embroidery that softens the look of the dress.  Her stylist gave her a soft, side-swept up-do at the base of her neck and off to the side that balances out the asymmetry of her neckline.  Her top eyelids are defined with extra lashes and black liquid liner, but the rest of her face is fresh and light.  The earrings are the perfect accessories and don’t overshadow the rest of her look.

The frilly black dress that Renee Zellweger is rocking out is flirty and fabulous.  Her stylist gave her a wind swept updo that is totally fitting for this dreamy look.  She also has the full lashes, and the rest of her face is kept light.  The lips are where the stylist chose to add color to make her look more romantic.  There isn’t any jewelry to distract from her face which makes this a very simple but sweet look.

Kate Beckinsale captured just the right look with this dress and hairstyle.  Her dress is really busy but floaty, so her stylist mirrored that look in her hair to keep the look the same and not draw attention away from the dress and her face.  Her make-up is soft with outlined eyes and pale pink lips.  Charming.

Jessica Biel has the same sort of look going on with her hairstyle.  Her hair was given a bit of wave, then pulled back into a loose up-do.  It exposes her face, which is done up in natural shades with perfect pink lips.  She kept the neckline open and didn’t clutter it up with jewelry so you get to see her great shoulder line.

Vanessa Minnillo opted for the soft low ponytail.  The pattern on her dress is really busy, and having a complicated hairstyle would have made her look like a mess.  She pulls off the look because she kept it simple with the ponytail.  It has volume on top and the side-swept bangs add a touch of mischievousness.  More natural shades for her make-up and no big jewelry keep this look on the stylish side.
