Prom is months away. Why stress about it now? What are the benefits of finding the perfect style for prom so far in advance? Here are a few key reasons to start your search now!

Variety: If you start searching for the perfect style now, you are bound to come across styles you might have missed if you had waited til the last minute. You can look not just through indexes of pics for prom, but also for brides and in trend magazines and on the internet. There are endless sources out there for you to choose from and no end to unique styles.

Practice: Doing the style yourself? You are going to want plenty of time to practice that style before the big day. Learn how your hair moves with curls and without them. Try styling with different products to see how your hair holds up and reacts to them. Got a stylist to do it for you? You will still need a practice run with them if the style is at all complicated. The last thing you need on prom night is a hot mess on your head because your stylist couldn’t recreate your vision at the last minute.

Uncertain: Are you the kind of person that changes her mind all the time? Starting your search early will help you run through all the styles and circle around again to your favorite. Procrastinate and you will end up with a split-decision style you may regret down the road.

Starting Point: Find the perfect hairstyle, then find a dress that goes with it. Yes, it is possible to have a clashing hair/dress combo. Some dresses are just made to go with an updo and others cry out for something more simple.

Accessories: They are so hot right now! Bright flowers to studded combs – you can’t go wrong with one. Looking for that style to go along with your perfect accessory will be much more fun if you aren’t pressed for time.

Length: Hair too short for the style you really want? If you find that dream style and your hair just needs an extra couple inches to pull it off, starting the search for that style early gives you time to grow it out.

Drama: You should have plenty of time to find the best color and cut to create the style if you start looking now. Wait til the last minute and you might just end up with second best. You can experiment with different color variations – highlights and lowlights, color blocking or subtle enhancements to your natural color – without having to worry about damaging your hair if the color is all wrong.

Prom is supposed to be the most magical night of your life up til now, not a frenzy to look perfect. Start getting ready early by searching for that perfect style and you will alleviate a lot of the stress that your friends who procrastinate are going to feel!
